Wasnt sure where to post this or if its already common knowledge or if i shouldnt post this at all, so if its not helpful please delete. My mouse right click would not work on desktop or in explorer, worked in other programs though, quite annoying. Use the name NoViewContextMenu. Double click the name and set the value data as 1. Adding the registry tweak above will disable mouse right click for ALL users.

Salmon Trout Guest. I would be interested to know how NoViewContextMenu got set in the first place on the machine you were using, if this is your own PC, etc. If this was a work or school machine, and that registry setting was applied by the system admin, then it should not be altered without permission.

Also, we do not advise casual tinkering with the registry since an error could have serious effects. In fact, hacks that are intended to bypass security settings put in place by system admins are, I think, against forum policy.

However a properly secured machine would not allow an ordinary user to use Regedit. Since a number of Trojans are known to set that registry value, in the event that it suddenly altered or became set when it was not before, I would be inclined to thoroughly check my system for malware.

Well this sorted it out. I know I have seen this information before somewhere so it is possible I caused the problem myself in the first place.
